XPOSED Queer Film Festival Berlin presents highlights from its 2026 edition, which celebrated the 20th anniversary of Berlin’s beloved festival for queer cinephiles.
Mixing fiction, documentary, animation, and essay, these six films imagine queer stories in Brazil, France, Guinea, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Turkey. "Picumã”, an urban western, follows Lua and Shaiene in their search for Cleo, who mysteriously disappeared. "Working Class”, a fictional manifesto, mocks the fetishization and romanticization of ‘the working class’. XPOSED Audience Award Winner "Thunder Bird” combines archival footage and interviews to present a dance troupe that withstood military rule for 50 years. XPOSED Lolly Award Winner "How A River Is Born” creates a mountainous scenery in which Ayla awakes to a journey of discovery. "A is for Andra” follows a former MTV star, tracking their evolution from a rising star in Bandung to a non-binary transmasc living as a kindergarten teacher in Berlin. In "Taxi Moto”, a director, prevented from making his film, reinvents his story elsewhere, crafting a passionate and poetic story of resistance and love.
