Wolfgang Becker's new film focusses on an involuntary hero. "Charly Hübner is the German Big Lebowski." radioeins
There is nothing heroic about Micha, whose video store is about to go bust. At first, he is merely amused when an ambitious journalist, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down, publishes a big feature presenting him as the organizer of the largest mass escape in East Germany's history. But then, the ensuing publicity totally upends his peaceful existence. Wolfgang Becker's final film displays the same compassionate sense of humour and empathy that characterized his earlier hits such as GOOD BYE, LENIN.
We will greatly miss Wolfgang Becker's movies.
